Kim Romick and Monique Payne (see below) have had the pleasure of working with clients all over the United States creating beautiful homes of all styles.
Owner/Head Designer/Buying Team since 1992
In 8th grade, Kim remembers writing a paper about he dream of being an interior designer. Her mother Darlene always had an eye for good design and passed that on to Kim. She attended SMU in Dallas, TX and received a BA in Business. The Ladehoff family vacationed in Steamboat all of Kim’s life. After graduating in 1992 she came to Steamboat for the summer with her twin sister to enjoy the beauty of the mountains. After living in the Yampa Valley for the summer she was convinced this was the community for her to start a business. She noticed an increasing need for quality furnishings and design services and decided to follow her dream. She opened a little store called Into the West on the corner of 8th and Lincoln and it was a huge success. They quickly outgrew that space as demand continued to be on the rise. Kim has a unique understanding of her clients wishes and uses a creative process to bring it all to fruition. Her value for teamwork allows for a collaborative process so that the client can work with our design team to come up with a clear vision. Kim has streamlined a design process that allows her clients the ability to design a home from near or far away. She has an amazing eye for creating balance within the spaces she is designing. All of Kim’s designs are filled with heart and feel like home.
Monique Payne/Designer & Project Manager/Design Team
Monique’s passion is design. She has always had a fascination for beautiful hand-crafted items and has been designing her own line of jewelry for years. She spent 8 years in the Oriental Rug business as a project manager and buyer. Her expanding interest in textiles landed her in interior design in 2008. Her love of textures and the layering of complimenting colors set her apart and some might even refer to her as a “textile psychic”. She loves helping clients turn their house into a home and making it function in a way that works best for their family. Monique is an excellent listener and often times can understand peoples needs even if they do not mention the specifics. She has an incredible talent of turning clients desires into beautiful designs.
